Croatia (Croatian: Hrvatska, pronounced: Hrvatska), officially named Republic of Croatia (Croatian: Republika Hrvatska, Republika Hrvatska), is a country in south-eastern Europe, bordered on the north by Hungary, on the north by Hungary and the north. with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while at its southern end with Montenegro. In its western part it is bathed by the Adriatic Sea which is thus its natural border.
Its capital and seat of government is Zagreb, with about one million inhabitants, which is an important transportation hub and its financial as well as its academic center. Other important Croatian cities are Rijeka, Pula, Split and Dubrovnik.
The Croatian economy is dominated by the services sector, followed by industry and agriculture. An important source of income, especially in summer, is tourism, with Croatia being the 18th most popular tourist destination in the world. The state controls part of the economy with significant public spending.
